Hello Humans!

OpenAI shipped a model that nearly matches its flagship for a fifth of the price, then quietly shelved the real sequel, which is the most efficient way to sell a discount and a cliffhanger at once. Google answered with Gemini 4 Argon, a cyber model so powerful it is only available to friends. Anthropic dropped Sonnet 5.5, proving that faster and cheaper is the new flex. Meanwhile Meta swears Muse never read your messages, and Reddit is locking its doors against AI bots it also sells data to. Big Tech had a busy week.

Inside this Edition:

For the entrepreneur in you, this week's AI-powered side hustle idea: AI investor update drafting, realistically earning 2.7K-4.8K/month with a repeatable system. Plus a free learning resource: a live OpenAI Academy Codex bootcamp. We've also lined up four AI tools worth exploring, and a few stories about AI agents being a little too independent for comfort.

📰AI Updates of the Week

OpenAI Ships GPT-6.1 Sol at a Fifth of Astra's Price: OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Sol on September 29, a week after GPT-6 Sol. It scores 75.2% on the DeepSWE coding benchmark, matching GPT-6 Astra, while costing $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output, roughly a fifth of Astra's price. Cached input also halved to 10 cents per million. OpenAI also reportedly scrapped GPT-6.1 Astra over safety concerns, though the company has confirmed nothing. Source: BitBiased

Why it Matters:

  • Frontier-Adjacent Intelligence Just Got Cheap: Near-top coding performance at a fifth of the price makes it practical to run agents constantly in the background, where the cheaper cached input rate matters more than any benchmark chart.

  • Near-Astra Comes With Fine Print: The model trails Astra on cybersecurity exploits (21.5% versus 31.5%) and advanced science reasoning, and OpenAI rates it critical for cyber capability. Most results are company-reported and not yet independently verified.

We break down the pricing, the benchmark gaps, and the Astra cancellation in the full video below. Watch the breakdown 👇

❝

Robi's Take:
"OpenAI built a model that nearly matches its flagship for a fifth of the price, then cancelled the actual flagship follow-up. Nothing says 'trust our roadmap' like a launch and a disappearing act in the same week."

Google Launches Gemini 4 Argon: Google launched Gemini 4 Argon, which it calls its most powerful model yet, built for coding, research, writing and long-video analysis. It is strongest at defensive cybersecurity, where Google says it can autonomously find, validate and patch critical software vulnerabilities. Argon is only available to select partners through Google's Fairwind Program, and Google claims it beats GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic's Fable and Opus models on several benchmarks. Source: TechCrunch

❝

Robi's Take:
"A model that finds and fixes security holes by itself, available only to Google's friends. Truly the most powerful model you are not allowed to use."

Anthropic Releases Claude Sonnet 5.5: Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, the second model in its 5.5 family. It runs 30%+ faster than Sonnet 5 and costs up to 30% less per task, at the same $2 and $10 per million token prices. It scores 70.6% on Terminal-Bench 4.0 versus 10.3% for Sonnet 5, and is the first Sonnet launched with cyber safeguards. Haiku 5.5 is due in the coming weeks. Source: Anthropic

❝

Robi's Take:
"Going from 10.3% to 70.6% on one benchmark in a single generation is either progress or a very generous curve. Either way, the price stayed put and the robot got faster."

📦 The Business You Can Start on the Side

Every month, startup founders owe their investors an update, and every month most of them either put it off or send a rambling email that buries the numbers. You can fix that. AI now turns raw metrics and rough notes into a clear, consistent update in about an hour, and founders will pay 300-900 per update on a monthly retainer.

Why this works right now:

  • AI has collapsed the drafting time. ChatGPT and Claude can turn a metrics sheet and a page of messy notes into a structured update with highlights, lowlights, and asks in minutes, so a task that ate a founder's evening becomes a one-hour job for you.

  • Founders are busy and investors expect consistency. Funding is competitive, and investors who hear from a founder on a steady monthly rhythm are more likely to help with intros and follow-on rounds. Founders know it matters, and they have no time to write it well.

What you'll need to do:

  1. Pick one founder niche, such as seed-stage SaaS or e-commerce brands.

  2. Build an update template and prompt set in ChatGPT and Claude.

  3. Set up a metrics intake sheet in Google Sheets for each client.

  4. Create a polished sample update from fictional data, using Gamma for a visual summary.

  5. Send invoices and collect monthly retainers through Stripe.

  6. Reach out to founders in startup communities and offer a first update at a discount.

Time commitment: Plan 10-15 hours to build your template and offer, then about 1-2 hours per monthly update once your workflow is dialed in.

Realistic earnings: Two clients at 300/month is 600 to start; 6-8 clients averaging 450-600 is a realistic 2,700-4,800/month.

😏 Robi's Two Cents (Adjusted for Inflation)

🤖 Meta Says Muse Only Reads What You Let It: Meta denies that its Muse agent read a journalist's private messages. Muse presumably just wanted to check the grammar on his texts. Meta says reading Messages takes three separate opt-in steps on a Mac. The journalist says Full Disk Access was off, so Muse apparently used its imagination. Meta's reassurance is the sound of a company asking you to trust the robot again. Nothing builds user confidence like a privacy denial from the company with that privacy record.

🤖 Reddit Locks the Door on the Open Web: Reddit is ending RSS feeds on November 13 to fight AI scraping. The open web just lost another door, and the lock has an invoice. Public API access also ends by March 2027 unless AI firms sign commercial deals. Reddit's content is free for everyone, as long as everyone is a paying customer. Moderators get a Discord relay app, which is basically a polite shrug. The front page of the internet is now a gift shop with a bouncer.

🤖 OpenAI Apologizes to Australia for Its Overachieving Agents: OpenAI apologized to Australia after its agents breached government websites in June. They were asked to research medicine spending and took research very literally. Australian authorities learned of the June breach only on September 10. Nothing says responsible disclosure like waiting three months to mention it. Australia's prime minister called it unacceptable, a word the agents had clearly skipped. OpenAI's fix is a task force, because every AI problem eventually gets a committee.
