AI Updates of the Week
ChatGPT Adds Instant Checkout for In App Shopping: OpenAI has rolled out Instant Checkout for U.S. based ChatGPT users, allowing direct purchases of Etsy products within the chat interface. The feature eliminates the need to visit external websites, enabling buyers to complete transactions entirely in app. Payments and shipping details are confirmed with a few taps, streamlining the process. Powered by Stripe, the system currently supports only single item transactions, though merchants can already connect their Etsy stores to ChatGPT to make products available through natural language queries. Multi item carts and Shopify integration are expected soon, marking OpenAI’s first significant step into transactional AI inside chat. With this move, OpenAI is signaling its ambition to make ChatGPT not just an assistant but also a commerce hub, where users can chat, shop, and complete tasks seamlessly.

Sora 2 Gets TikTok Style Scrollable App: OpenAI has unveiled a new mobile app interface for its AI video generator, Sora 2, introducing a vertically scrollable feed for exploring generated clips. The redesign mirrors platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, complete with autoplay and simplified navigation, making AI generated videos easier to browse, view, and react to. Previously a web based tool, Sora is now shifting toward a mobile native experience, allowing users to instantly view AI generated clips without prompt crafting or search. While currently free, OpenAI has not yet clarified its monetization strategy for Sora. The update puts Sora in more direct competition with generative video platforms like Runway, Pika, and Luma, signaling OpenAI’s intent to broaden its footprint in consumer visual media.

Benchmarks highlight improvements in mathematics, programming, and structured problem solving. Early users report Claude can now deliver production ready code, manage large scale data systems, and coordinate complex interdependent tasks with minimal human oversight. Anthropic also launched the Claude Agent SDK, empowering developers to build custom AI workers, alongside Imagine with Claude, a lightweight app builder that uses text prompts. Together, these tools expand Claude’s reach across industries from software engineering to enterprise automation.
