OpenAI Expands Codex to ChatGPT Mobile App

OpenAI has announced that Codex, its AI-powered coding assistant, is now being integrated into the ChatGPT mobile app for both iOS and Android users. The update allows developers to monitor, manage, and interact with coding tasks remotely through their smartphones. The feature is currently rolling out in preview mode and is available across all ChatGPT plans, including free-tier users.

The mobile integration is designed to keep developers connected to active coding sessions running on their computers. Users can review outputs, approve commands, switch AI models, and start new programming tasks directly from their phones. While the actual coding environment remains on the connected desktop or macOS machine, live updates such as screenshots, terminal outputs, diffs, and test results are streamed to the mobile app in real time.

OpenAI says the goal is to support a more flexible workflow as AI coding agents become increasingly autonomous and capable of handling longer-running development tasks. The company highlighted that Codex is now used by millions of people every week, with mobile access helping teams stay productive even when away from their desks. Windows support for Codex connectivity is also expected to arrive soon.

The launch comes as competition intensifies in the AI coding assistant market, particularly against Anthropic’s Claude Code. OpenAI has recently accelerated its enterprise and developer-focused strategy, positioning Codex as a central productivity tool for software engineering and workflow automation. By extending Codex to smartphones, the company is pushing AI-assisted programming closer to an always-available experience for developers and technical teams worldwide.

Robi’s Insights:

  • Mobile access to Codex reduces the need for developers to stay tied to their laptops during long-running coding sessions. Small approvals and quick reviews can now happen from virtually anywhere.

  • Real-time updates on code execution, testing, and outputs make AI-assisted development feel more collaborative and continuous. This could significantly speed up debugging and iteration cycles.

  • The integration reflects a broader shift toward “always-on” AI agents that work asynchronously in the background. Developers may increasingly supervise AI systems rather than manually perform every coding task.

  • Bringing Codex into the ChatGPT app also lowers friction for casual users exploring AI-assisted software development. Accessibility could help more nontraditional developers experiment with coding workflows.

  • Competition in AI coding tools is rapidly intensifying, especially between OpenAI and Anthropic. Faster feature rollouts will likely benefit users through improved automation and more advanced developer experiences.

  • The planned Windows support is important because many enterprise engineering teams still rely heavily on Windows-based environments. Broader compatibility could accelerate mainstream adoption.

Robi’s Remarks:

“OpenAI is now sending engineers directly into companies because apparently the hardest part of AI adoption is convincing Karen from accounting that ChatGPT is not “the thing that stole my nephew’s homework."

South Korea Is Literally Filming Hotel Staff So Robots Can Learn Napkin Folding

South Korea’s hospitality industry has officially entered the “teach the robot your job before it replaces you” phase. At Seoul’s five-star Lotte Hotel, banquet worker David Park is spending part of his month wearing body cameras on his head, chest, and hands while carefully folding napkins, polishing glasses, and arranging cutlery so AI startup RLWRLD can feed every tiny movement into a database for humanoid robots. The company is collecting similar footage from warehouse workers and Japanese convenience store employees as it builds software designed to give robots humanlike dexterity in factories, hotels, and eventually homes.

RLWRLD says the biggest challenge is teaching machines the delicate hand coordination humans perform without thinking, which explains why engineers are obsessively studying napkin folds instead of building another chatbot that confidently invents legal cases.

South Korea is heavily investing in “physical AI” as companies like Tesla and several Chinese robotics firms pour billions into humanoid development. Labor groups are already warning that widespread robot adoption could wipe out skilled jobs and disrupt training pipelines for future workers. Still, executives insist humans will remain essential, which is usually corporate code for “the robot still drops plates sometimes.” For now, Park continues demonstrating napkin folds for cameras month unknowingly becoming the world’s most overqualified tutorial The robot prototype can move cups around minibars though engineers admitted it knocks dishes over proving artificial intelligence has finally mastered the restaurant experience.

"Cloudflare replaced 1,100 workers with AI agents, proving once again that the fastest way to improve quarterly efficiency is deleting the people who attend the quarterly efficiency meeting.”

AI Chatbots Draw Patients Away From GPs

A UK study has found that one in seven people prefer consulting AI chatbots for health advice instead of seeing a doctor, raising concerns that digital tools are becoming an unofficial parallel healthcare system as NHS access pressures continue.

The poll of more than 2,000 people, analysed by researchers at King’s College London, found 15% of respondents were turning to chatbots for medical guidance. Among them, one in four said long NHS waiting lists influenced their decision to use AI before, or instead of, professional care. Researchers said the findings are the first to quantify chatbot use for health advice in the UK. A fifth of users said AI did not encourage them to seek a professional opinion,

while a similar share reported deciding against a consultation because of information supplied by a chatbot.

Lead author Professor Graham Lord warned that individual use of generative AI is creating an unregulated healthcare layer alongside the NHS. The study also found mixed public support for AI in clinical decision-making, with 37% in favour and 38% opposed.

Doctors urged caution, saying chatbots cannot examine patients, review full medical histories, detect subtle warning signs, or make safe evidence-based judgments. The findings point to a need for clearer regulation, transparency, and public guidance so AI supports care without replacing clinicians. They also underline why access to timely GP appointments remains central to patient safety.

"RegVelo can predict how cells decide what they’ll become in the future. Meanwhile LinkedIn users still need 14 motivational posts and a podcast before deciding they’re “transitioning into AI."
