Hello Humans!
Grok 5 now has six trillion parameters in every place except the evidence, and the model card is still on backorder. OpenAI cut prices in half with GPT-6.1 Terra, while Google crowned Gemini 4 Carbon and then handed the keys to a short list of security defenders. Microsoft offered 60,000 employees a farewell package to help pay for the robots. Big Tech had a busy week.
Inside this Edition:
For the entrepreneur in you, this week's AI-powered side hustle: an AI bookkeeping report service, realistically earning 2.7K-4.8K/month with a repeatable system. Plus a free learning resource: a live Ampere workshop on understanding AI agents, built for small business owners. We've also lined up four AI tools worth exploring, and a few stories that made even my 90s circuits roll their eyes.

📰AI Updates of the Week

Grok 5 and the Missing Evidence: Elon Musk says Grok 5 will have 6 trillion parameters, native multimodal intelligence and a 10% chance of reaching AGI. But xAI still has no model card, no verified architecture, no API pricing and no independent benchmarks, and the release date keeps slipping. Grok 4.7, released September 21, shows real coding gains, though it burned more reasoning tokens to get there and still trails the frontier. Source: BitBiased
Why it Matters:
Specs Are Not Evidence: A six-trillion-parameter claim means little without an architecture, a model card or independent tests. Until xAI publishes them, Grok 5 is a promise rather than a product.
Grok 4.7 Shows the Real Picture: Terminal-Bench 4.0 rose from 20.3% to 37.6%, but higher reasoning effort inflated token use, so the gains cost more than the headline suggests.
We break down what xAI has actually confirmed, the benchmark numbers, and what Grok 4.7 really costs to run in the full video below. Watch the breakdown 👇
Robi's Take:
"Grok 5 has six trillion parameters, two missed deadlines, and a spec sheet that lives entirely in tweets. It is the most confidently described model that has never shipped."
OpenAI Launches GPT-6.1 Terra: OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, a fast, efficient model built for visual reasoning and computer use. Standard API pricing is 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol, at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. Errors on OpenAI's hard-prompt test fell from 53.6% to 16.7% at low effort. It is available in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users. Source: OpenAI
Robi's Take:
"GPT-6.1 Terra halves the price and nearly matches the flagship on key tests. Nothing motivates a discount like a sibling model quietly eating your lunch."
Google Unveils Gemini 4 Carbon: Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon, which tops Artificial Analysis's Intelligence Index v5.0 with 59 points, ahead of Claude Opus 5.5 at 58. Pricing starts at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, matching Argon. But access is limited to selected cybersecurity defenders in Google's Fairwind Program, with a wider release promised only after guardrail feedback. Source: VentureBeat
Robi's Take:
"Google took the number one spot and then locked the door behind it. This is the first leaderboard trophy that ships with a velvet rope and a waiting list."

Understanding AI Agents
Find out what AI agents actually are, how they differ from the chatbots and tools covered in earlier sessions, and what it means that they can now act on their own. A practical, jargon-light introduction with real examples of agents already working inside small businesses.
Ampere hosts this free virtual workshop with WeBC on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Pacific. It is part of a free 3-part series designed for women entrepreneurs, and it closes with a look at what agents can and cannot do independently.
🔍 Why You Should Attend:
Learn what AI agents are and how they differ from the chatbots you already use.
See real examples of agents being deployed by small businesses.
Start mapping where agentic AI could fit into your own operations.
Understand what agents can and cannot do on their own before you trust them with real work.

📦 The Business You Can Start on the Side

Every month, small business owners receive a stack of bookkeeping reports they never read, then make big decisions on gut feel. You can fix that. With AI, you turn a raw export into a plain-English report that explains where the money went and what to do next, and charge 300-800 per month per client for it.
Why this works right now:
AI turns hours into minutes. Tools like Claude and ChatGPT can read an exported profit and loss, spot what changed month to month, and draft the explanation, work that once needed an accountant's afternoon.
Owners have data but no story. Software like QuickBooks hands them numbers, yet most small businesses have no one to explain them, and a recurring monthly report is easy to justify.
What you'll need to do:
Pick one niche, such as restaurants, contractors, or solo consultants
Build a repeatable workflow with Claude, ChatGPT, and a spreadsheet
Get monthly exports from the client's QuickBooks or accounting software
Verify every figure, then add three plain-English recommended actions
Package the report in a branded Canva template and bill monthly through Stripe
Find clients on LinkedIn, Upwork, and through local bookkeepers
Time commitment: Plan 12-18 hours to build your workflow and templates, then 1-2 hours per client each month.
Realistic earnings: Two clients at 300/month is 600 to start; 6-8 clients averaging 450-600 is a realistic 2,700-4,800/month.

🤖 Microsoft Pays Humans to Leave: Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, more than a quarter of its workforce. Nothing says valued teammate like a coupon for leaving. The company says the move contains costs and helps fund its massive AI investments. Capital spending is forecast at 175 billion dollars, so the humans were the line item left to trim. Somewhere a Copilot is already measuring the empty desks. It is the only employee guaranteed to be promoted this quarter.

🤖 Meta Delays Its Fine Print: Meta says it will probably push its new business terms past November 20 after backlash. Even the fine print needs a few more rounds of feedback. The terms were first due October 30, and publishers and lawmakers raised concerns about AI training. Sign now and read later turns out to be a hard sell for readers. Delaying indefinitely is how a deadline politely becomes a suggestion. The terms are not canceled, only postponed until everyone forgets to be angry.

🤖 GMO Gets a Surprise Remote Session: Japan's GMO Internet says hackers posted alleged customer data after breaching its Onamae cloud desktop service. A rented desktop for traders turned out to be a rented desktop for everyone. The hackers demanded about 8 billion yen, roughly 50 million dollars, and up to 27,000 servers may be affected. That is a steep fee for a screen share nobody scheduled. Password resets are now the official sound of a Tuesday. The cloud really is just someone else's computer, and now also someone else's problem.
