Firefox Smart Window Fills Forms From Open Tabs

Mozilla has started rolling out new abilities for Firefox's Smart Window, the browser's built in AI panel, moving it from answering questions toward doing small jobs on your behalf. The headline additions are a form filling tool that pulls details from your other open tabs and a page watching option that keeps an eye on a site and tells you when something changes. Both features are opt in, and they arrive first as a desktop beta.

The form filling feature, which Mozilla calls fill from sources, reads across the tabs you already have open and drops the relevant details into a form, so you are not retyping the same address, order number or booking reference by hand. The page watching tasks, started with a slash watch command, let you ask Firefox to monitor a page, a price or a listing and surface the change for you rather than making you refresh it yourself.

Under the hood, the two features lean on different models. Mozilla says the fill from sources work runs on a lightweight Gemini Flash Lite model from Google, while the watch tasks are handled by Alibaba's Qwen. Matching a cheaper, faster model to routine jobs lets Firefox avoid routing every small request through one large system.

Crucially, Smart Window stops short of acting entirely on its own. It fills a form but does not submit it, leaving the final click to you, which keeps a person in the loop for anything that books, pays or sends. For now the beta is limited to desktop and to English speakers in the United States and Canada, so most Firefox users will not see it yet. Mozilla is framing the update as practical help with browser busywork rather than a leap toward a fully autonomous agent.

Robi’s Insights:

  • Autofill that reads your open tabs is handy, and a quiet reminder of how much your browser can now see across one session.

  • Keeping the final submit on the human is the right call, because a wrong auto booking is a support ticket, not a feature.

  • Shipping to a narrow English only desktop beta first is how you limit the damage when AI starts touching real forms.

  • Running routine jobs on a Flash Lite model is a cost decision dressed up as a product decision.

  • Using one vendor to fill and another to watch suggests Mozilla wants leverage, not a single model dependency.

  • The real test is trust, and people guard checkout details far more carefully than they guard a list of open tabs.

Robi’s Remarks:

"A browser that fills in the form but refuses to press send is the most honest assistant I have met all week. It does the boring part, then hands you the blame for the typo."

Meta AI Director Leaves to Build an Office Rival

Rohit Patel, an AI director who spent eight years at Meta and most recently worked inside its Superintelligence Labs, has left the company to start his own venture. His new business, Ndoc, is pitched as an AI native office workspace, a documents, slides and spreadsheets suite built around AI from the first line of code rather than bolted on to an existing product afterward.

For now the company is deliberately tiny. Patel is building with a three person team and no outside funding, running an enterprise pilot and an alpha waitlist while promising a beta within weeks and a full launch sometime next year. The target is squarely the software most office workers already live in every day, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and the pitch is that an AI first rebuild can do that work with far less clicking.

The exit is the latest in a steady run of departures from Meta's AI organization, and it sets up a genuine long shot. An unfunded three person startup is lining up against entrenched suites from Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, where distribution and the accounts a vendor already owns can matter as much as the underlying model. Patel is betting that being small and AI native is an advantage, not a handicap.

🤖 Robi’s Take :

"Three people, no funding, and the plan is to unseat Office and Workspace. Bold. The hard part was never building a better editor, it is prying a billion inboxes loose from the tools they already default to."

Abu Dhabi Bets AI Can Speed Up Clinical Trials

A new partnership in Abu Dhabi wants to use AI to fix one of the slowest steps in medicine, finding the right patients for a clinical trial. Oracle, the drugmaker AstraZeneca and the Emirati health group M42 say they will use AI to match patients and speed up recruitment, starting with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

The idea is to let software scan health records and flag people who fit a trial's criteria, a step that today can take months of manual screening. The partners expect first results in about a year, which should show whether AI driven matching shortens timelines or simply moves the bottleneck somewhere else.

It is worth being precise about what was actually announced here. The bold claims came from an Oracle executive speaking at the company's Oracle AI World event, so for now they are expectations, not published trial outcomes.

Separately, AstraZeneca said it would commit $50 million to clinical trials with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, a sign that large drugmakers are willing to put real money behind the region's health technology ambitions.

If the matching works, the payoff is faster trials and treatments that reach patients sooner. If it does not, it is one more pilot that promised speed and delivered a press release.

"Matching patients to trials is a genuinely good use of AI. Just remember the exciting numbers here came off a conference stage, not a results page. Check back in a year."

AI Tool You Did Not Know You Needed

  • Problem: You leave most meetings with half remembered action items and no clean record of who actually agreed to what.

  • AI Tool: Otter.ai transcribes meetings live, labels who is speaking, and turns the audio into searchable, shareable notes you can revisit later.

  • Solution: You stay in the conversation instead of scribbling, then search the transcript later for the one line that actually mattered.

PROMPT OF THE DAY

Turn Browser Busywork Into a Workflow

❝

Prompt: You are an operations strategist specializing in workflow automation. Your task is to design a browser based automation plan for a small marketing team.

Your plan should include: (1) the five most repetitive browser tasks the team does weekly, (2) which of those an AI can safely draft versus submit, (3) the data each task needs and where it lives, (4) a review checkpoint before anything is sent, (5) a rollback step for mistakes, and (6) measurable success criteria such as hours saved weekly and error rate. Keep each step simple enough for a nontechnical teammate to follow.
