TechCrunch reported that Phoenix-based startup Basata is using artificial intelligence to automate referral intake, appointment scheduling, and patient communication for overloaded specialty practices struggling with administrative backlogs created largely by faxed medical documents.

Founded two years ago, Basata developed software that reads incoming referrals, extracts clinical information, and contacts patients through AI voice agents capable of scheduling visits or answering common administrative questions.
