Hello Humans!
Grok 5 missed its third deadline, but the supercomputer built for it found a paying tenant in Anthropic, which is one way to hit a milestone. ChatGPT learned to make animated GIFs, so the group chat now has an official supplier. Netflix built an AI that asks your mood before picking a show, saving you the forty minutes of scrolling you had budgeted for. Meanwhile Sam Altman briefly became Ram Altman, because even the memory shortage needed a mascot. Big Tech had a busy week.
Inside this Edition:
For the entrepreneur in you, this week's AI-powered side hustle: an AI onboarding guide service, realistically earning 3K-4.8K/month with a repeatable system. Plus a free learning resource: a live OpenAI Academy session on running Codex team workflows. We've also lined up four AI tools worth exploring, and a few lighter stories that even my 90s circuits found oddly entertaining.

📰AI Updates of the Week

Grok 5 Is Still Missing: Elon Musk promised Grok 5 would be the smartest AI in the world by a wide margin, yet three deadlines have passed and xAI has not released it. Rumors point to 6 to 10 trillion parameters and a huge context window, but almost nothing is officially confirmed. Meanwhile, xAI struck a compute deal that lets Anthropic run Claude on its Colossus-1 supercomputer. Source: BitBiased
Why it Matters:
Specs Are Rumors, Not Facts: Since xAI confirmed Grok 5 was in training in January, no model card, independent benchmark, or pricing has appeared. Treat every trillion-parameter number as marketing until someone can test it.
Compute May Be the Real Story: Renting Colossus capacity to a direct rival raises the question of what is actually holding Grok 5 back. A flagship model is hard to ship when your best hardware has a second customer.
We separated confirmed facts from Musk's predictions, checked seven viral rumors, and explained how to read Grok 5's first benchmark in the full video below. Watch the breakdown 👇
Robi's Take:
"Grok 5 has now missed three deadlines while its supercomputer works for Anthropic. Nothing says confidence like leasing your best hardware to the competition."
ChatGPT Now Makes Animated GIFs: OpenAI is rolling out a ChatGPT update that creates and edits animated GIFs from a text prompt or an uploaded photo. It arrives with the new Images 2.6 model, which generates faster and lets users change animation speed and edit individual frames. OpenAI says people make over 4 billion images a week across ChatGPT and its API, and the rollout covers ChatGPT and Codex users. Source: The Verge
Robi's Take:
"ChatGPT can now make reaction GIFs on demand, so the internet's most important export finally has an official supplier. Four billion images a week, and your group chat will still send the same dancing cat."
Netflix Tests an AI Discover Tab: Netflix is rolling out an experimental AI Discover tab that recommends what to watch based on your mood, viewing preferences, available time, or trending topics. A new intelligence layer responds in real time and keeps learning from tuned recommendations and exclusions. It starts in the U.S. on supported TVs for English-language users, with a wider rollout planned in the coming weeks. Source: TechCrunch
Robi's Take:
"Netflix will now ask how you feel before picking a show, which is still less effort than scrolling for forty minutes. The AI will soon learn what we all know: you wanted to rewatch the same comfort series again."

📦 The Business You Can Start on the Side

A new hire's first week at a small company usually means a hand-me-down folder, three half-finished checklists, and a lot of questions asked out loud. The owner knows it costs them, but nobody has time to write it all down. You can. With AI, you turn an owner's rambling notes into a clean onboarding guide and charge 300-900 per set.
Why this works right now:
AI turned a week of writing into an afternoon. Tools like Scribe and Tango capture a process once and write the steps for you, while Claude and ChatGPT turn spoken brain-dumps into structured guides. The hours a business used to lose are now your margin.
Small businesses hire without an HR team. Owners who bring on a few people a year have no one to build training, and few freelancers pitch onboarding as a packaged service, so competition is thin.
Time commitment: Plan 12-18 hours across a week to get set up. After that, each client set takes roughly 3-5 hours.
Realistic earnings: Two sets a month at 400 each is 800 to start; 6-8 sets averaging 500-600 is a realistic 3,000-4,800 per month.

🤖 Sam Altman Becomes Ram Altman: Sam Altman briefly changed his X name to Ram Altman this week. Nothing says serious AI leader like a username with a memory leak. The prank followed his podcast remarks about memory use, which Elon Musk mocked with a RAM meme. Apparently the global memory shortage needed a mascot, and the richest roast in tech volunteered. By Wednesday morning he was Sam again, the fastest rollback in OpenAI history. The shortage is real, but the memes have unlimited storage.

🤖 Canva Reorganizes 22% of Staff: Canva is cutting or changing roles for 1,271 employees, about 22% of its workforce. The design giant finally found a layout that fits fewer people. The move follows slower growth, after Canva cut its 2026 revenue forecast from 30% to 20% in August. Nothing says growth like a memo explaining why growth needs fewer humans. At least departing staff keep their MacBooks, so everyone can update a resume in high resolution. Canva's hottest new template is the all-hands memo, and nobody asked to remix it.

🤖 Apple Watch Starts Listening Back: Apple's watchOS 27.3 developer beta adds Siri Recap and Live Rewind to the Apple Watch. Your wrist can now remember the conversation you were pretending not to hear. Live Rewind turns the last 15 seconds of speech into text with a double press of the Digital Crown. Siri Recap summaries vanish after seven days, longer than most promises made in meetings. Apple says no raw audio is kept, though lawyers are already asking about eavesdropping laws. Your watch now catches every word, so "I never heard that" has officially expired.
